McAtamney & Advisors is an economic and strategic advisory firm working with clients across the cultural, creative and regulated sectors.

This policy explains how we handle your personal information. We've written it to be straightforward. If something isn't clear, contact us using the details at the end of this policy.

We've chosen to follow the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), even where we're not strictly required to. We don't sell personal information to anyone.

Our services are for businesses and individuals aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

What information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

• Your contact details - name, job title, business name, email, phone number and address
• Information about your business - operational, financial, strategic or commercial information you share with us as part of an engagement
• Communications - records of calls, emails, messages and other interactions

We only collect what we reasonably need. Because of the nature of our services, we need to know who we're working with - it's not practicable to engage with us anonymously.

If we receive personal information we didn't ask for and couldn't have collected under the Privacy Act, we'll destroy or de-identify it as soon as we reasonably can.

We don't share personal information with third parties for their marketing.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our providers - including cloud, analytics and AI platforms - store or process data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States.

Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure those providers handle your information to a standard broadly equivalent to Australian privacy law, through contracts or by using providers operating under comparable frameworks.

We use enterprise-grade AI tools as part of how we work. Where your information is involved:

• These tools support our professional judgement - they don't make decisions about you on their own

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. This includes storing information in enterprise-grade cloud systems (including Microsoft 365) and applying appropriate access controls.

Data quality and retention

We take reasonable steps to keep the information we hold accurate, current and complete. If you think something we hold about you is wrong, let us know.

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law. When it's no longer needed, we destroy or de-identify it securely.

Your rights: access and correction

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, and request that we correct anything that's inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

We'll respond within a reasonable time. There's no fee to make a request, though we may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of providing access in some cases. If we can't grant access - for example, because it would reveal someone else's information - we'll explain why.

Complaints

If you think we've mishandled your personal information, please contact us. We'll acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
